Create with purpose. Our KS3 Graphic Design programme teaches visual communication, typography, layout and digital design skills.
What to expect.
Students learn the principles of graphic design through practical projects: posters, logos, magazine layouts, packaging and digital media. Lessons cover colour theory, typography, composition and the design process from brief to final output. Students develop both creative thinking and technical skills using industry-standard digital tools.
Topics covered.
Design principles
Balance, contrast, alignment, repetition, proximity and hierarchy. The building blocks of effective visual communication.
Typography
Font selection, pairing, sizing, leading and tracking. Understanding how type communicates mood and meaning.
Colour theory
The colour wheel, complementary and analogous schemes, colour psychology and effective use of colour in design.
Digital tools
Working with vector and raster graphics. Introduction to industry-standard design software and workflows.
The design process
Responding to a brief, research, sketching, prototyping, refining and presenting final designs with rationale.

How progress is measured.
Portfolio-based assessment of design projects. Each project is marked on creativity, technical skill and how well it meets the brief. Termly reports cover progress and portfolio development.

KS3 Graphic Design develops transferable creative and digital skills that support a range of IGCSE subjects and future study in art, design and digital media.
How graphic design lessons work.

Every lesson is delivered live by a qualified teacher. Students participate through voice, chat, whiteboards and breakout rooms.
Small classes.
Maximum fifteen students per class. Every child gets individual attention, feedback and support throughout the lesson.
Recorded for review.
Every lesson is recorded and available on the student portal. Students can re-watch, revise and catch up at any time.
